Sometimes I wish I believed that prayer worked.
Five members of the Belgian branch of Medecins sans Frontieres have been kidnapped in Sudan's Darfur region.
An MSF official told AFP news agency three international staff and two local employees were kidnapped on Wednesday in north Darfur.
The kidnappings come after Sudan ordered the expulsion of 13 aid groups, including MSF, earlier this month.
They were told to leave after President Omar al-Bashir was indicted by the International Criminal Court.
I've an interview with a MSF worker sitting on my computer waiting to be turned into text, they are good people with pure motives and I hope that these five are released safely.
I would also like to state that I hope these people are released without harm. Since I no longer feel able to support the Red Cross, MSF are the only such body I have donated to for quite a few years.Unfortunately however, the plight of these aid workers, desperate as it no doubt is, is as nothing compared to the suffering of the refugees – which has only intensified as a result of the international community's refusal to take actual ACTION to protect these people.
But then of course there's no oil – or am I just being a little to cynical?

Guess that means the guy upstairs doesn't get many requests into His atheists' inbox? :o)Seriously, that's good news!
hope they get released soon and that no harm comes to them. A truely dedicated organisation.
MSF is one of the few remaining good, useful, admirable, effective charities. Given the atrocities committed daily in Sudan, I'm not sure why I'm horrified that some bunch of subhumans would descend to this level. This is awful. Just awful.
Whew. Sorry to hear it. My thoughts and prayers will be with them.
